The NJSL is a recreational soccer league serving the Northwest and Jackson School districts and surrounding communities for over 30 years. Our season runs from August thru October. Practices start the 1st week of August with games on Saturdays, starting
late August with a 9 week game schedule.
The 4 & 5 yr olds have a Saturday practice/ game session on Saturdays for 7 weeks.
Players are randomly assigned to teams, based on age and preference of mixed (boys & girls) or girls teams, (ages 8-14). Our normal age groupings are:
Mixed Teams (boys & girls): 4 & 5 , 6 & 7, 8 & 9, 10 & 11, 12 & 13, 14 to 18.
Girls Teams : 8 & 9, 10 & 11, 12 to 14 .
No standings are kept and there are
no league-sponsored awards for teams or individuals at the completion of
the season. The true winners are those who have improved their
individual skills and made new friends during the season.
The NJSL has grown tremendously since it's inception in
1980 and provides teams for about 1100 players. The success of the league
mirrors the efforts of hundreds of VOLUNTEERS who have donated time and
resources to provide a recreational and social opportunity for the people in the
local communities.
The logistics of gathering registrations, forming teams, scheduling practice and game
fields, recruiting coaches, scheduling referees, ordering and distributing equipment, and
getting the fields in shape can be awesome. In fact it is a year round job. We hope many
more adults from each participant's family can find the time to volunteer.
